Hey guys well I'm back working on my 92 Z28 Camaro 5.7 TPI I just installed a new TPS now the old one may have been fine but the guy I got the car from mess with it so better safe than sorry . So I was wondering what do you set the multmetter on to adjust it and what should it read.

 

Tpi .67-.76 If it has elongated holes for adjustment. Stock replacement should have elongated holes but 85-89 elongated tps are cheaper for some reason.
The vom gets set to dcv . The black and blue wires are the wires to test. Greay is the 5v reference.

 

Thanks Tuned Performance. The TPS I got doesn't have elongated hole so should I try and fine one with elongated holes.

 

Unless you want to save alittle money. Slotted hole ones are $20-28 at RockAuto . Non elongated ones are $50-60 .

 

That's cool I'll go with what I got but thanks for the info it will save me a little money next time . Oyeah I saw a video of some guy setting the TPS to .54 dose that sound right to you.

.54 is for tpi maf , on speed density the ecm looks at the value as throttle blades set to idle and it might work at .54 but the spec is alittle higher.

 

90-92 tps are not adjustable.

 

Cool thanks for the info again Tealman92 I thought you adjusted by turning the screw on the other side of the TPS was I told wrong.

 

The screw on the opposite side (drivers side) if for the minimum air speed.

 

O ok well I guess i don't need to adjust it

 

Unless your having idle issues, to high or to low you don’t need to adjust it.
There is a procedure for adjustment.

 

Well I don't have an idle issue per say but at times I seem to have I guess what you would call a flat spot in acceleration when taking off from time to time and sometimes in stop and go traffic the car idles a little rough. So I though the TPS might need adjusting.

 

Well I search the forum on how to set the minimum air and I can't make heads or tails out of it so call me dumb. I know I'm an old dude and this is the first TPI motor I've worked on I'm so use to working on carbs . So if anyone can help me out I would owe you one.

 

I’m not sure the source of your flat spot is fueling or spark. I would guess a fueling issue.
To set the minimum air speed.
Jumper the aldl connected a to b.
This connector is at the drivers side knee area.
Turn the key to the on position.
Unplug the iac valve connector , it’s the large 4 connector bye the tps.
Start the engine and set the rpm to 650 rpm. This is all done with a warm engine. Reconnect the iac connector and your done.
If you have a scanner you can set the iac steps to 20-25 steps at idle.

 

Thanks for the info again. I 've put a new 14 gal gas tank and sending unit and fuel pump as well oyeah and a fuel pressure regulator . It reads 44 psi when primed and 37 psi when running. so I don't know I thought maybe the TPS or the minimum air might be my problem . Well thanks again for your help.
