Car starts then dies

Car starts then dies
I'm new to this forum, looking for some help on my current issue. I have a 87 Trans AM 5.0 305 TPI, have owned since April, currently starts then dies. I've done quite a bit of work on the car, it just seems like when I fix one problem another one appears. When I got the car, it had Code 34, which went away after fixing some vacuum leaks and it never came back (until recently). Car was idling rough, had a misfire so I changed out spark plug/wires, distributor cap and rotor and PCV valve, still idled rough and misfired. Soon after when cold starting the car would start, idle up to like 1200 rpm's, then start dropping until it stalls, unless I gave it some gas. Car would start fine when engine was warm. Also noticed coolant pooling near coolant port on intake manifold and then got a code 36. I decided to replace all 3 of the relays (fuel pump, MAF power, and MAF burnoff), replaced relays with the same part #'s, 10094701 for the fuel pump and the MAF burnoff (they were also the same when I got the car, MAF burnoff only has 4 wires but was in a 5 wire connector with 1 empty), not sure of the # for the MAF power but it was identical to original. Also cleaned wire connectors with electrical part cleaner they had this black gunk on them, let them dry overnight. Next day car starts, I was driving to my friend's garage to do the intake manifold gasket and car started dying but only when I gave it gas (actually idled fine, better than it had been). After a few restarts it was drivable and drove it back to my house but gave code 33,34 and 36. Replaced the intake manifold gasket at my house, started her up now it just starts and dies unless it's given gas/throttle. It won't idle. I realize I should have sought more feedback along the way. Any ideas where to start? I was thinking of checking voltage on the wires going to MAF but will that even work when the engine isn't running? Thanks.

Re: Car starts then dies
When it starts and dies. Unplug the MAF connector, and try and start the car and see if it will stay running. It will throw a SES code and probably idle like crap. But that will give you a good indication if your MAF is bad.

Re: Car starts then dies
So I tried unplugging MAF, it started ran a little longer than before but still died unless i gave it gas.. gave me a code 33.. tried turning the minimum idle screw a little, it started and idled around 400, running like crap but still running.. turned a little more so it idled between 600-700.. now i tried setting the TPS voltage but either the sensor is shot or my multimeter isnt working as I couldnt get a reading.. plugged MAF back in now code 33 gone but got code 34.. so now it idles fine but throttle response sucks and starts like crap, dont know if I messed up the timing or something with what i just did.. any ideas? I guess i need to fo a proper idle reset and TPS voltage but dont know where to go from there

Hello,
Have you tried cleaning or replacing the MAP/MAF? The Code 34 seems directly related...
DTC - 34 MAP sensor circuit error (signal low indicating high vacuum)
