Transmission: 700r4

I noticed that my car was idling rough in drive reverse and park lack of power after driving about 400 miles. I started checking iac adjusting timing etc. I decided I’d have a shop look at it and see if they could diagnose, on the way there I felt a jolt then heard a grinding noise and now when it’s idling it stalls in drive and I hear a grinding noise underneath mid to right side under passenger seat once I get in second gear the grinding goes away. I got to the shop but was wondering if anyone knows what that could be

Hey there!
While I'm a noob, and have never diagnosed a Transmission I thought to myself if the grinding went away in 2nd gear....could you have damaged 1st gear? This is totally assuming Transmissions follow 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.....
