1990 350 TBI to 1991 305 TBI Swap?

Getting the motor from a Caprice which has a mechanical fan. If I have to use the pcm and chip from the Caprice how will my electric fan (Camaro)know when to turn on?

I'm going to assume that since the username is "Tims91RS" that the "from" is the Caprice and the "to" is the Camaro.

That being said, you might get more help from the TBI forum. Those guys are more familiar with the workings of the 3rd gen TBI and the various forms that are swapped into them.

The single fan system in the f-body is not controlled by the ECM. Its controlled by the temp switch in the passenger side head. Install a 160 or 180 degree thermostat and a 185 or 200 degree aftermarket fan temp switch, and you'll be fine.

Thanks, Kevin, that's what I was thinking but wasn't sure about the TBI fan set-up (just not all that much exposure to TBI cars).

Not to be confused, The Temp Switch is actually located on the drivers side of the motor on the side of the block, Look for a white and green wire and it will lead you right to it.

The fan temp switch is in the passenger head like I said. The gauge temp switch is in the driver's head like you said. The ECM temp switch is in the front of the intake manifold.
