Ignition/Lock Cylinder Problems
[Video Attached]
I was an active user on this forum when I was a teenager with my 85 Thirdgen. I kept the car, but it's been in the garage for the past 9 years. About a year ago, I got it running, and have been periodically starting it.
Well, a couple weeks ago, I tried to start it, and the key would not turn past the "ON" position, meaning it will not engage the starter. I ordered a new lock cylinder from Hawks, and attempted to remove the lock cylinder, but will not come out. There was no black torx screw as expected when I took the wheel off. Is the lock cylinder to blame, or is the rod in a bind?
I attached a video of the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPRZ...ature=youtu.be
Thanks guys - glad to be back on the forums!

Re: Ignition/Lock Cylinder Problems
Put your shifter in park. Or neutral.
Your park interlock cable is jacked up, or you're not in park or neutral. The key won't come out because the column thinks you're in gear, the key won't turn to start because the column thinks you're in gear. Need to move the cable to make the column think you're in park, then you'll be able to turn to start, and/or remove the key.

Re: Ignition/Lock Cylinder Problems
I double-checked, and the shifter is in park. I switched between neutral and park, but the problem persists. I can remove the key, and turn the ignition, but I will turn turn past the "ON" position to the "START" position.
