Either the hatch isnt closed, exhaust leak, or the vent lines are not doing their job.

You could have a cracked filler neck. You get some pretty serious fumes especially if you fill the tank. From what I have read on here that this is a common problem. I would check the whole EVAP system.

Is it only while you are driving? If you get in the car after it has been parked like overnight, does it have the strong smell?

Years ago I had a 2.8 Camaro. It had an small exhaust leak. But the hatch motor was broken. The smell used to get in the car that way. Just check the fuel lines. I would smell the oil and check plugs to see if it's running rich.
