Car: 1989 IROC-Z 305 LB9 AT Convertible
Engine: LB9 305
Transmission: AT
Baffling intermittent no crank/ no start 1989 305 TPI.
regarding Hi My 1989 IROC Z 305 TPI AT
Intermittently has the following conditions
MY Known Good Actron CP 9190 Scanner reports ERROR. Can Not communicate with vehicle. Bad ECU? Wiring?
Key ON SES ans VATS light illuminate. (And turn off normal fashion) Key in CRANK NO Crank NO Fuel Pump Prime 0 PSI @ Fuel Rail
KEY ON. REMOTE Energize starter CRANKS NO Tach Movement NO FP Prime 0 PSI @ Rail NO Start Add carb spray @ PCV Hose, Runs on spray (IIRC)
2ND TRY KEY IN CRANK NO CRANK...................... KEY ON FP Primes 35 psi @ RAIL............... REMOTE Energize Starter............ Cranks Tach Moves 35 PSI @ Rail NO START Add Carb Spray @ PCV Hose......Runs ON Carb Spray
It appears I am losing CRANK IN all Malfunction Modes, and Intermittently losing FP Prime, Sometime lose Injector Operation and Sometimes lose FP Prime AND Injector Operation BOTH
YIKES! Help appreciated and I am willing to "Throw some parts at it".
The VATS and SES Lights go on w/ Ign ON OFF Ign OFF
Symptoms go away, starts and runs correctly
Intermittently has the following conditions

Perhaps I could simplify Vehicle always loses CRANK, Sometimes loses Fuel pump operation and sometimes loses Injector Pulse (I Think)

SOLVED by installation of a NEW Delco VATS module.
