Oil pressure switch on LS Swap

what oil pressure sensor/switch do i use with an ls swap into my gen 3 91 rs camaro. I've installed an 04 5.7L GTO engine & transmission and want to not only have the original gauge still working but i also want to have the instrument panel oil light as well.

Re: Oil pressure switch on LS Swap

Gauge and light sensor should be 2 different sensors. A gauge sensor uses a potentiometer sending unit and could be a transducer sensor circuit. (Not sure when they started using transducers). Light uses a low pressure on/off normally open switch sensor.

Re: Oil pressure switch on LS Swap

I used a 4th gen oil pressure sensor to drive the gauge in my 92 Firebird. Can't help on the light, I don't think a cluster with a gauge has a light also, I think it was one or the other

Re: Oil pressure switch on LS Swap

Yeah, i was hooking up the alternator LED light to the "shift up" light when i noticed there's a hole for the oil light at the top right. So I'm thinking could be a good idea to connect it to a oil pressure switch. When i did the swap i fitted a sensor/switch 3-wire unit thinking that i would eventually connect it up. Got the sensor working the gauge no problem, but thought that the switch would be normally closed and open on oil pressure but nothing. I could have a faulty sensor/switch.

I wouldn't do that. See post 883,
