I think it usually happens when you hit 88 mph But in all seriousness, are you asking if you will get flatspots from the car sitting too long?

About 1sec if your using the brakes!

Bias-ply tires were really bad for flat spotting when they sat even for a couple of weeks. Once they warm up and get turning, they will round themselves out unless there is a severe case.

Radial tires having steel belts are not a susceptable to flat spotting. Because of the better rubber compounds and the nature of the tire itself. What is the worst is leaving a radial tire that is underinflated on a heavy car in the sun for a couple of years. Otherwise don't worry about it. It is usually from the sun deteriorating the rubber.

i "flat spotted" my front tires after locking them up from 60 to 45
which was like 1/2 second. I think I took off about 3/8 of an inch doing that. damn deer

I had to rotate them to the back and do a couple of burnouts to 're round them" and it was horrible to drive on those tires for a while.

Thanks, I did mean from sitting too long.
btw to the above post, I did the same thing once, but I just went around a few fast corners a few times to round off the wheels.

130 mph slam on the brakes, leave 200 ft black stripes, all in about 8 seconds. Had to get new tires after that. Owned the car 1 month at the time (Brand new). Lets just say I was young and not thinking right at the time. I learned my lesson after shelling out $1k to replace brand new tires.

Sparks a flyin'

By the way, the tire marks could still be seen 5 years after.

Slicks flatspot easy. My friend knows all about that. Radial tires are more likely to do what mine did. I went into a turn too fast at an autocross, brakes locked up, and my tires started "chattering". Now I know to let off the gas and just DNF instead of taking huge chunks out of your tires

If it's going to sit for a while, overinflate the tires by about 10 psi. Lower the pressure when you drive it.
