Lifting engine/trans from TPI fuel rail mounting bolt holes?

Those four elevated fuel rail bolt holes look exceptionally strong for holding a fuel rail down. I was wondering if I can lift from them. Anyone done this? I am going to be lowering a 5.7 and T5 assembly back into the car. I want to put the intake manifold on outside the car.

Yep. I saw that. Just wondered if that was for those holes as well. It's a lot more fun installing an intake manifold on the stand.

Don't know about using the fuel rail mounting holes but I've pulled many engines using carb mounting holes. Had a plate that bolted down on the carb mount holes and had a u-bolt welded to the plate to hook onto.

You will probably be OK using the fuel rail bolt holes,..... but WHY RISK IT ?? If just 1 hole gives out not only is the intake ****ed,... but imagine the damage caused to the engine if it falls,... or the damage to the car if the engine falls on it.

Don't do it,........ There are PLENTY of holes in the heads that you can bolt a chain too.

Never seen the side of one of those bosses break out, I'm guessing? The problem isn't the threads. The problem is the aluminum around the threads is thin. Those bolts are only to keep the fuel rail from moving around, they're not really up to lifting the engine.

If you want to bolt stuff together before dropping in the engine, you could always go in from the bottom.

I never thought of using those holes to lift the motor. But I checked out the TPiS website and they still sell the "Happy Hooker" for $74.95. Drilled to work with TPI, LT1 and LS motors.
