SA versus NonSA Rockers

I am building a 1996 5.7L Vortec. The heads are done with a 0.495 lift, threaded studs, and I plan 1.5 roller tip rockers. I have guide plates. Is it better to use Self Aligning roller tip rockers with the guide plates or is that over kill and just need to use Non Self Aligning roller tip rockers?

Thanks.

Re: SA versus NonSA Rockers

Typical wisdom has always been non-self aligning rockers with guide plates. Logic being that both will result in the two guides fighting each other. FWIW, second hand info, haven't tried it therefore it has not been my funeral.

Re: SA versus NonSA Rockers

Drew is correct. Trying to guide with two methods will fight each other, and bad things could happen.
Also, you cannot use SA rockers with solid lifters, either flat tappet or roller.
