Rebuilding engine pc by pc what next?
I have been reading alot of the posts on the board and started getting the parts together to rebuild my 1989 GTA 5.7 So far heres what I have. All new bearing . new zz4 cam , set of 1989 58cc chamber heads, gasket kit , timing chain, freeze plugs and new 22 lb injectors.
Now I am ready to buy some more stuff. I need an oil pump. I am going to slp runners, 58 MM throttle body, ether slp headers or edelbrock. What should I do about pistons and rods? Should I bore the block even if it does not need it? Should I stick with the stock crank. I want to get to 350 hp with the possiblity of a super charger down the road once I have driven the car a year.??? What about roller tip rockers? Will my stock push rods be ok . I think I will buy new roller lifters .(cam is new) What about distrbutor? Any imput welcome.

if you're going power adder later i'd use a nodular crank if not a forged one, forged pistons, lunati rods, main studs, maybe upgrade to 4 bolt splayed caps. i wouldn't bore a block if it didn't need it
If you are planning on running power adders, I agree with ede on the use of forged parts on the rotating assembly. If not running any power adders I would suggest getting your crank turned, get your existing rods shot peened, and once you have decided what size and kind of pistons you want to run get the assembly balanced. I would also suggest using dished pistons if you are using those heads, or look into a set of aftermarket heads. If you are rebuilding your block in the first place, you cylinders will probably need to be bored a bit to get cleaned up. Getting the heads reworked and installing springs to match your cam is a must. Roller rockers will definitely help out your valvetrain. Pushrods are too cheap not to change if you want to build the engine right. If you are planning on keeping the computer system, you really don't have much of a choice on the distributor, you can just rebuild it yourself.
