the resistance part is the same as most other 1965-90 GM,so could take that from another used or new GM sender and install on the 82 sender(if replacement '82 sender not avalible)
I have a complete fuel tank for sale locally from a 82 carbed car. Low mileage and i just pulled it out last fall for newer ls swap tank so its in working condition. If you're interested i could sell you just the sending unit assembly.
