Does anyone know if these two brackets can be removed or are they necessary for the PS pump? I no longer have AC and am installing headers and would like to clean up the engine/bay.

Yes they are needed.

However... you could cut off the top of #1, maybe round it over somehow or something.

Not that I know of. But I've never researched it.

Might be worthwhile looking into converting it to serpentine belt. Many more options that way.

Not really. The PS pump needs it. Or at least, what it does. The no AC version has the same feature but implements it differently.

 

I can't say for sure, but IIRC, there is an additional stud on the back of the PS pump that goes in the slot in that bracket for belt adjustment. It's a real PITA to get to also. Since you no longer have AC, then you can remove bracket #1, put a thru-bolt here, and cut the top part of bracket #2 off. Keep bracket #3 and #4 in place.

 

Excellent! Thanks guys. I've chopped the AC bracket down, fabbed up a spacer roughly the height of the manifolds to remount it to the headers.

Thanks IrocZ. I was hoping to save my AC bracket for future use or to pass on to someone whom needed it, but that's no longer an option. ;-)
