MSD READY TO RUN??
MSD READY TO RUN??
Hey guys
MSD or not to MSD? Im thinking of installing a MSD ready to run.
Whats the verdict, looks easy on youtube, only 3 wires they say, but my 1982 distributor has 5 wires, power, taco, and 3 from the distributor?

Cheers Joe

Why do you even want to fool with all that? What do you hope to get? What is your existing ignition not doing that you'd like it to?

Originated from this...
Like I commented, you just got the back edge of the spell-check sword.
But that's just a source of amusement, not material to the question at hand. MSD has some capabilities greater than stock, but just driving down the road on pretty weekend afternoons isn't really one of them. Why are you interested in that at all? What do you expect to benefit from it?

Buggered if I know really mate, this is Australia, I dont think there is another 3rd Gen Camaro within a 1000 miles of me? Most Camaro guys I talk to over here (on the net) think Im a bit crazy doing up a 1982 camaro!!! Why would you bother is the answer I usually get!! The cool guys have the older models 1st and 2nd gen, selling over here for nothing under $80,000
but you know I really like the shape of the 3rd Gen, so **** em, Im nearly 70, a pensioner, having a little fun before I die
stay safe guys

The bottom line here is , if you have a relatively stock engine , or even an engine with a few performance upgrades (Headers , carb , cam , etc) the stock ignition system (if functioning properly) isn't a weak link in your setup . Oh , and as far as spell checking and slang goes , "Taco" is kinda funny , but "Buggered" here in the US is often used in the same way you guys in Australia use "Rooting"
Re: MSD READY TO RUN??
hahaha thats funny
my old mum who is 97 not out, spoke to her this morning as its mothers day over here, well her mother used to say "well bugger me" when she was surprised by something. My mum says the same thing, its an old aussie saying, nothing to do with rooting
Thanks for the info re my engine, its got more than enough power for me, might just get a red cap and red leads haha cheers Joe
