machine shop question

im in the mid stages of building my first 383. ive gathered the engine, intake , and headers. its abut time to get the engine to the machine shop but im not sure if I should source my own stroker kit or if the machine shop will throw a fit and want me to buy it from them? the answer is of course to ask them but im wondering what your experience is. im going to have them assemble the short block. if I were going to assemble it I wouldn't care.

Re: machine shop question

I'd ask the machine shop. Chances are they have parts they prefer to work with and they may even be able to get you a rate due to volume discounts since it's a very common engine.

Re: machine shop question

Ask them what they prefer and what they would charge. You can then source that part and compare. You can also come back to them with the results of your research should you find something that peaks your interest.
