head gasket particles in bore
I finished cleaning my block from the head gasket material and I got a little bit of it in the bore. I used compress air to get most of it out by i see very fine bits left. what effect will this have on my engine?
Mkos,
Wet the cylinders with a bit of clean oil, then crank the engine over a couple of revs. The rings should scrape the walls and push teh debris up to the top of the bores, where you can wipe it out with a clean paper towel. Do this a couple of times and you should have most of it cleaned out.
The compressed air would only tend to push the debris past the rings and into the sump. Some of this is almost always inevitable, in addition to any coolant, sealants, and other things that might entere the open engine. Because of this, it is a good idea to change oil and filter soon after starting an engine that has been opened for service.
