I pulled the 305 TPI out of my 1987 Camaro to freshen it up. Got it back in and its running but I have a mystery connector I can't find a home for.

It is near the back of the drivers side cylinder head. Comes out of the large harness and the pigtail is about 6" long so it can't go far.

It is a 2 prong connector with a Black wire and Orange wire W/Black stripe.

 

Probably actually pink w/ blk stripe.

That color combo is ECM power and ground. Ponder the implications: can't be for a sensor, solenoid, etc.

That's the legendary "mystery connector". Doesn't go to anything once the harness is in the car AFAIK. Those of us with mfg experience think that it was the factory's way of powering up the ECM and whatever else was required to verify that the harness was good before they put it in a motor, but without all of the other supporting goodies like a dash etc.
