Lt1 vs gen 1 cam
Looking at cams. The difference between the 2 are one says for lt1 and the other is gen 1.
What is the difference? $100 price difference between them. Same lift/duration/timing specs
Comp cams
8-467-8
7-467-8

Re: Lt1 vs gen 1 cam
LT1 cam doesn't have the fuel pump lobe, for sure. Also has the long dowel pin in the front to work the WP & Opti. May or may not have the distributor gear.
Lobes and that sort of thing are the same.

Re: Lt1 vs gen 1 cam
An SBC cam won’t work in an LT1/LT4, but an LT1 cam will work in an SBC. The LT1 cam has the dowel pin in front to run the optispark. It can be shortened or removed for an SBC. Also, the LT1 cam may not have a mechanical fuel pump lobe.
Re: Lt1 vs gen 1 cam
The "second" LT1 cam also has the distributor gear teeth, needed to drive the stub shaft in the rear of the lifter valley. That shaft drives the oil pump, but not a conventional SBC distriibutor.
I know that a 1994 factory LT1 cam had the area for the fuel pump machined concentric with the blank (flat) but the Comp Cams replacement cam designed for that LT1 had an eccentric fuel pump lobe.
