A/C equipped car vs. Non air car...
I have a 91 RS convertible that I bought from Washington state and brought back to Louisiana. The car is a factory non air car... exactly what is different behind the dash compared to a factory air car? Is the whole HVAC assembly behind the dash different than mine? Or if it just a matter of swapping the control module and wiring?
Have any of you done this? I may buy a parts car to get everything from to make life easier,, if everything has to be changed.

Yes THE WHOLE system is different. The firewall is even different.
Parts car is probably the best way to go.

yeah you probably need a harness off an ac as well. The ac system has a few plugs.

I'm willing to sell it if you want it... I'm going to remove the factory wiring harness for the blower motor and the HVAC module too. I ordered an A/C harness from ebay so I'll be swapping that out. I have no issue shipping it to you, just let me know.
Thanks,
Mike

Yeah, sure. Go ahead and keep hold of it until you're done with the swap just in case you need something. Just reach out to me when you're ready,

I swapped out the ac in my 91 for a non ac system out of an older car. I have no exposed hole(s) so I do not believe that the firewall is different.
With the older systems everything behind the dash is different from ac to non ac. There are fresh air vents controlled by little T pull handles under the steering column, also unique ducting and interior panels for them. I have not had a non ac system from a 90 or up F-body. I have seen a few in other cars and noticed that they do not have the controls under the steering column for the fresh air vents. It has to be controlled at the HVAC control panel which looks the same as the older ones except for the yellow lettering. This leads me to believe that it may be the same behind the dash no matter if it is ac or not and the fresh air is controlled by vacuum via the control panel. If in fact it dose turn out to be a different unit behind the dash, I would definitely want to see some pictures of what you find posted. I also would definitely be interested in the parts that you have not already promised to QwkTrip.
