86 firebird 2.8 confusion
Hello, I have an 86 firebird with 2.8 v6. It wouldn't start very well when it was cold and would run rough for 10-15 minutes after it started, cold or warm. I changed the spark plugs and that didn't help any. Today I just changed the fuel injectors for reman Bosch ones and that didn't help either. I reset the ecm after doing so. New oxygen sensor, fuel pump relay, and fuel filter as well. Air filter is good.
Here are my complaints:
When I put my foot to the floor when it's in park or neutral it isn't very responsive.
When idling it will randomly nearly kill itself, without anything on that would cause it to do so
I hear a hissing noise when the car is running, I think it is coming from the exhaust but I'm not sure. There are no holes in it and the exhaust was replaced within the last ten years by the previous owner.Any help appreciated, Thanks

Re: 86 firebird 2.8 confusion
Pretty wide range of possible issues. I would try unplugging MAF and see if it runs any different. Is check engine light on?
Hissing sound could be all kinds of things but I would carefully check all vacuum lines.
Next time try posting in the V6 specific forum.

Funny story, the check engine light only comes when leveling out after going down a steep hill. Im 80 percent sure it's the cruise though because whenever it's on the cruise doesn't work. It has no effect on the engine running .

You need to pull the codes and figure out what is stored in the computer before you even bother doing anything else. Use the forum search tool.

It gives me a code 24. Spedometer still works fine and is accurate. The light only shows up *I think* after it goes down a steep hill. Otherwise it doesn't come on. Loose wiring? Bad Fuse? I don't know.
