a few pre-installation questions..

ok.. hopefully this week-end will be around 0 degrees celcius.. so we can start putting the engine in!... ok so the engine builder left my piece that bolts up where the oil filter goes for the cooler lines out.. he couldn't put it on because he primed the engine for me so he just put the oil filter on by itself.. ok so he told me to wait t'ill the engine is in the truck and then drop the filter and bolt up this unit.. now my quesiton.. the oil cooler (which is part of the rad) is empty right now.. on my initial startup does that mean the cooler will have to fill up before I get oil pressure? or does it only feed some oil through the cooler? also for my transmission will this be a problem also becuase the cooler again is in the rad and it's empty.. will my tranny/torque conveter starve of fluid on startup? I know I will have to top off after but I'm just concerned about inital startup.. the other question is my headers came with header bolts and the bolts that bold up to the xover pipe.. they also gave me the donuts.. but no springs.. can I just pickup the springs at a muffler shop? also do the donuts go in a specific way? and also the header gaskets does it matter what side is in or out?

thanks

you will probably get a little pressure before it fills completely but not full pressure.

Make sure you have 4quarts in the oil pan of trans when you start it. If it will not go into gear, add another quart.

I would call a muff shop and see if they have the springs.. lot of times they are not reused after the factory.

Make sure you have the header gasket turned the right direction left to right.. but there is no engine side versus header side.

you'd think edelbrock would have gave me the damn springs if they gave me everything else! how does that go on? I think the donut goes a certain way? do you put a bolt through with a washer and then put the spring on the other side with a locknut and a nut?
