wanting to add auxiliary oil fitting while keeping the existing one
Hey Guys,
Is there another NPT fitting where I can add in an oil pressure sensor that will give an accurate reading? My current one is fine, but want a psi gauge to keep an eye on that is in my peripheral so I can stay on the road! I have a filter sandwich but found out last night it was too small. Before I buy a larger one I thought I would ask you all first as they aren't cheap! Thanks in advance.

Title says Filter but your question is Sensor and since sensor seems like a more reasonable question than two filters. There is a plug above the filter, I can't rem if it's used on a thirdgen and sure someone will say if so but I think they use the one by the intake normally. My C3 corvette uses the one by filter and my C4 uses the one by the intake, there's another sometimes at the front of the intake, I don't think it's on all blocks but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm mistaken but that front location could show bout 10psi less. Or you could use a T fitting at the intake.

1) On the block, above the stock oil filter.
2) On the rear china rail, where the stock oil pressure sender is screwed in.
3) Sometimes at the front of the block, 1/8" NPT plug tapped into the pass side lifter galley. Just below the front china rail.

My 89 had one on the rear china wall. I did the same think you're talking about doing. Had a square plug in it from the factory IIRC. Don't recall a sender. Who knows...probably just don't remember, LOL!

Re: wanting to add auxiliary oil fitting while keeping the existing one
Update:
I found the one on the back of the intake near the distributor. Sweet. It had a factory square plug in it with no sender. I removed the air cleaner the tv cable, & the coil wire. So I could see it, but no matter what tool I used I could not get it to budge. I had no tool to fit over the square. I tried 2 sets of vice clamps, sockets but I could not get anything on there to even turn it...
No room.
After a solid hour of struggling, I realized the sender I had would not clear the manifold to fit...@$&%^?!.
So I reinstalled everything & went below. 'With much trouble', I removed the factory sender above the oil filter.
Again, 'Seeing' the hex nut on it & 'getting' a tool on it were two things. Fortunately, it wasn't on there super tight so by making small turns due to lack of room I got it out.
Went to the parts store & made up a brass 't' and got both gauges working.
Hardly any room, unlike my 2nd gen.
Will get a filter sandwich later on but will do for now. Testing tomorrow for leaks with fresh oil & filter. Then cruisin'.
Thanks for your help. Time to drive & enjoy!

I never heard it put quite this way, but unfortunately I agree.
