Headers 90 iroc z 305 tpi smog pump
Hey there you guys, I have a 1990 camaro iroc z with the 5.0 tpi. I bought headers off summit racing. I noticed on the stock headers there’s extra lines that go into the smog pump. So my questions are, if I remove those lines and delete the smog pump. Would I have to mess with the egr valve? I know they sell kits online with a plate to block it off. I seen a video of a guy on YouTube that does it but burns the chips. Can I remove the smog system without having to touch the egr valve? And having to tune the ecm? Nobody around where I live has a tune to burn chips anymore. Can you guys point me in the right direction? Thank you in advance.

EGR is a totally completely altogether separate system from AIR, the thing that has the pump and the lines going into the manifolds. Neither one "affects" the other. So no, you won't "have to" do anything at all about the EGR if you delete the AIR system.
You don't have "stock headers". There is no such thing. You have exhaust manifolds.
The car may not pass emissions inspection though, if that's an issue in your location.
The Stone Age ECM is one of the major drawbacks of working on these older cars. There are ways of updating it however. Of course, you can make a YYYYYUUUUUUUUUUJJJJJJJJJJE improvement to how the car runs, even leaving it totally stock, with a tune; since the factory's most important considerations were emissions, CAFE, emissions, grandma driveability, emissions, totally universal safe operating at any altitude temperature or whatever else, emissions, ... oh maybe I forgot to mention, the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING in the factory tune is, EMISSIONS. If your priorities lie elsewhere, there's a world of improvement to be had.
Headers change the airflow through the motor fairly dramatically, therefore the engine's fuel needs to match the air flowing through it. Proper tuning after header install will likely give you AS MUCH, if not MORE, improvement, as the headers themselves. Plan on accommodating it somehow.
