got the motor mount bolts off, can't get mount out..
So I was able to remove all 3 bolts connecting the motor mount to the frame... but I can't actually slide the mount out. Those dang ears are in the way. I've jacked the engine up as much as I can, and it's starting to lift the car up now... I've seen some people mention grinding the ears off, but I can't get my angle grinder in there. Do the bolts holding the bracket to the engine have to come off too? Or does removing the transmission mount help to give more room to jack the engine up?

Dumb question - I'm assuming you have also removed the bolt holding the mount to the engine clamshells?
I replaced my mounts with the engine in the car a couple years ago, they were totally shot. I had an engine hoist by the time I did this project, so that helped. I disconnected the coolant hoses and might have even pulled the radiator. I know the shroud had to come off for the clutch fan to clear. I also pulled the distributor to keep it from banging into the firewall. Manifolds were disconnected from the exhaust. If you have access to an engine hoist, would be a lot easier!
Come to think of it, I believe I also disconnected the rear tranny mount. Seems like there was a guide on this site with details and pictures?
Wiggling around to get those bolts out sure isn't fun!

Yes I'd suggest completely removing the nut from the transmission mount bolt. Is it a tpi ? If so remove the silver cap that covers the distributor and leads to give a little more clearance, with that done there's no reason why you can't get them out.
You do have to remove the long bolt that goes through the middle of the mount that holds it to the engine otherwise there's no way to get it out as it's still attached to the engine.
Watch this guy's video. Skip to the mounts, first comment has the bookmarks.
