Just received the three Pontiac service manuals today. Purchased on Evil Bay. I had all the Manuals for my '72 Buick GS. Manuals for that car paid for themselves the first time I used them.
I would yes. u have engine&trans, chassis, and electronics diagnosis.
from experience. i owned a '81 cutlass & a '72 buick and both those cars had 3 manuals.
In years gone by, there were LOTS of different manuals for different cars. There's no "one" "rule" to how many there are.
One of the best from GM used to be the "factory assembly" manual. It told workers how they were to execute the various processes as the car rolled down the line. Not that you were ever going to actually DO the same thing; but knowing HOW IT HAD BEEN DONE, was sometimes beyond any price you could name, especially if you had to un-do or re-do it.
The one you get (got) from Helm for our cars is only 1 volume AFAIK. At least that's what it was for my 83. Had engine, chassis, electronic diagnosis, and everything else, all in the one. Not necessarily the same as making such a claim for "all" cars for "all" time of course. But it was just the "service manual", published for dealers to SERVICE new cars; didn't include factory assembly, or TSBs which obviously didn't exist yet when the car was brand new, and would never have been accumulated into a "manual" as such anyway (that was more like just a running list that got added to all the time, a "manual" for that makes no sense at all).
