1985 Z28 VSS wiring at ECM Box

I have a 1985 Z28 engine and transmission in a 1972 Chevy C10. My truck constantly stalls when I get off of freeway and I have a code 24 which says that my VSS module has an issue. The transmission is where the VSS module is located and there is no wiring from the harness going to the plug there. I'm looking to find the wiring that should be going there that is coming out of the ECM box. Thanks!

1226870 ecm ? A10 at the ecm went to optical Vss in the gauge cluster. Tpi parts has a retrofit 2k ppm Vss that will work. Ground one wire and signal to a10.

It seems there were two VSS modules, one at gauge cluster and one on 700R4 tranny, which is where mine is. Two wires are just dangling in the air...so looking for where to meet up wires on the harness/ECM

Re: 1985 Z28 VSS wiring at ECM Box

My VSS is at the transmission and has two uncolored wires connected to a plug. So should I run a wire up to the ECM and connect with the brown wire from A10 and then connect one side of the plug to ground? Thx for the much needed help!

Hey guys, in addition to having a problem with the VSS, my gears at the transmission for the speedo cable are about 20 miles under the posted speed limit on my gauge. Where can I find the right gear combination? This is in a 1972 C-10 with original speedometer in dash.

yes, you can get Vss gears on eBay if there available in the gear color tooth combo some have been discontinued.

I'm talking with Summit Racing about the different gear ratios to match my differential.

Re: 1985 Z28 VSS wiring at ECM Box

Got my transmission speedometer gears installed but:

I have a 1972 C10 truck with a 1985 Z28 engine and wiring harness. I need to find out where to hook up the wires that come off my transmission VSS module. There are two wires coming off of the VSS but I have no idea how to get them up to the ECM.
Thanks for any help.

Re: 1985 Z28 VSS wiring at ECM Box

I have no way of telling if it's working or not because I have nothing coming from my VSS module on the transmission. There is a brown wire coming out of A10 but I do not know where to find the other end in the harness and/or how to connect to VSS.

Re: 1985 Z28 VSS wiring at ECM Box

Unfortunately, because the Camaro Power-Train has been swapped into your Truck...
No one is going to know exactly where the Wire from the PCM A10 Terminal is routed (except for the Person who did the swap).

You have no choice but to start at the PCM, and follow the Wiring to where ever it goes...
disassembling the Interior, or what ever else may be in the way.

Good luck!
