Oil & Filters

I've done a little research on Filters and now have to pose this question, has anyone got input on this subject?
Car 1988 Camaro 305 TPI owned since new. Have changed oil at 500kl to 15W40 Pennzoil and GM PF454 filter and after every 4000kl. Car is winter stored, so mileage is less than 200k.
As Pennzoil 15W40 no longer exists had to changed to Valvoline 15W40.
Thinking of changing the oil filter of which I need feedback.
Oil Filter - Diesel PF2232 and Gas PF454 have same mounting threads and the gasket measurements are to within mm of each other. The PF2232 has better volume and filtration, but it is 2.2" longer.
Now has anyone used these filters?
Also would like feedback on filter bypass settings using 15W40 to outside temperatures.

Re: Oil & Filters

If you want a replacement for your ACDelco PF454 Engine Oil Filter...

I would recommend WIX: #57099.
Or if you would like a taller Filter (like the ACDelco: #PF1218) use WIX: #51060 (Not the 51060XP).

Re: Oil & Filters

I use Wix 51060 or sim height other brands sometimes. Not long ago found a good deal on some Acdelco PF1218 on Amazon.

I can't say anything about the filters you are going to use. I erase and compare oil filters on this site Best Oil Filter for 6.7 Cummins, here you can find out the characteristics of each element and choose the best one for yourself

Re: Oil & Filters

Just make sure you don't get the Wix 51060R, that's the race version flows more but doesn't filter as much.

Re: Oil & Filters

Actually I just pulled one off my shelf to 100% confirm the part number, knew it was something like that. Mine are Wix 51061 and the difference is the 61 has no anti-drain back valve, the 60 does. Not a big deal for standard SBC but if you have a side mount or sideways mounted remote adapter you want the anti-drain back 60 but either will work fine on a standard block mount.

Re: Oil & Filters

I would recommend passing on both the "XP" and the "R" Variants of these Engine Oil Filters.
Just stick with the 57099 or the 51060 Filters.
