Oil leaking past oil filler cap and dipstick popping up after Airfoil install
Newly built 355 with rings gapped to .020" for future blower install. Compression ratio is about 10:8:1 with the speed pro forged pistons with 4 valve reliefs and the heads milled 0.010". Engine runs great and I did have slight amounts of oil leaking last the oil cap which I replaced because it was the original filler cap and it fixed it until I installed a throttle body airfoil. I noticed the "nut" for the bolt to retain the airfoil sits in the passage for the PCV fresh intake side in the throttle body but does have space for flow behind it.
Now when I drive under some conditions, my oil dipstick pops out and sprays oil everywhere and lots of oil comes past the oil cap down the cover. It won't do it if I just take the car and do hard full throttle 1/4 mile passes but it seems to do it more when I'm messing around keeping in lower gear with the engine revving high and gooseing the throttle and other things that aren't just high load WOT acceleration.
Anyone else ever had an issue with PCV ability to flow after installing an airfoil. Should I install a catch can and eliminate the PCV?

Don't know...just asking....You don't think the ring gap creating excessive blow-by is a possibility? Excessive defined as more then the stock PCV system can keep up with?

I was thinking of just converting to a catch can system but I do like the fact the PCV pulls gasoline vapors out of the crankcase so the oil stays less contaminated for longer.
I'm just looking for feedback in what might be the best course of action here. Are there PCV valves that have different flow rates i could install? If so I'd like to try that before just saying F it and going catch can.

Yes, and also the higher than stock compression. I'm thinking it was on the verge of the limit for the stock PCV flow rate and then when I added the airfoil it lowered the ability of the fresh air side to flow back into the throttle body as well which is now overwhelming it.

That is an adjustable PCV, not exactly cheap but if the stock PCV is the issue this one could solve your issue. I stumbled on this awhile back while trying to find a replacement for my stockish L98 PCV and it looks like a well made product.
