oil in Throttle body ??????
oil in Throttle body ??????
what is up with this, I use 3-4 q a week and plugs are fouling. No external oil leaks, compression is good,. There is oil inside the throttle body, and it seems when the egr activates there is some oil smoke from exhaust. there is about 25K since rebuild and these are new problems. thanks

ummm... sratch that... The engine sounds like its taking in oil throught he breather or the pcv. Try replaceing the pcv and see if that helps. The engine will suck in fumes throught he breather. If the little filter there is black and oily, then thats probably the porblem.

There should be oil in the throttle body.. not liquid oil though. Does it smoke when started? Or when you get on it? How is oil pressure? Have you changed your oil frequently? Ever let the engine overheat?
The egr recirculates exhaust into the intake to be burned again, so I couldn't see it causing oil consumption problems unless it was working the opposite and sucking gaseous oil from the intake into the exhaust. Losing that much oil has to be a mechanical problem, unless you're somehow driving 3000+ miles a week. How has the engine's life been?

abpout the only thing you should see in the tb is maybe a little bit of coking from the fumes picked up by the pcv/egr. Other than that the tb should be clean. Your obviously loosing alot of oil past the rings/vavle guid seals or some other part of the oil system. Oil all over the inside of the air cleaner/tb points more towards the valve guide seals letting alot of blowby spray the oil around.
