Brand new fuel pump... Whining noise already...
So, I just spent 624 replacing a fuel pump and having my tank cleaned... Then I had to pay another 100 to have my exhaust system re-welded properly. The new fuel pump I was told is a Federal-Mogul part. I assume it's probably Carter? Anyways, on my old fuel pump the noise was never audible... On this one it is definitely an audible whirring noise but my exhaust noise drowns it out pretty well... Is this normal? Please don't tell me I am going to have to go through this process again xD
If that is the case, I refuse to drop the rear end again, I'm cutting a hole in the top. These cheap garbage after market parts are costing me more than anything else in my life and I can't keep paying for the same labor for a part that's a 50/50 gamble every time.

Have a couple cars with the same walbro 255s put in about the same time. One is a bit louder than the other; both are 20 ish yrs old.

I am not exactly sure which mine is. It's an electric pump on a 92 throttle body. Mechanic said it was Federal Mogul, but they were bought out by Carter. I googled some stuff about Carter pumps and people were saying they are loud af but run really well so hopefully this is normal for mine. I am just praying it's good.

You've already done the work, I would just wait it out and see what happens. Electric pumps do hum.
Next time buy Walbro.

My first replacement pump was pretty noisy too, a generic parts store brand, but it lasted a long time. I replaced it (preventative maintenance) with a Bosch pump from Rock Auto and it's near silent. Our cars don't have a lot of sound deadening material back there seems like. Yours is probably good to go for a long time too.
