fuel pump noise dampener "pulsater"
so, i am going to replace my fuel pump. for a full low down as to why see other thread:car dies if i give it gas!!!
but i called the parts guy at the local dealership and he said i needed a fuel pump noise dampener "pulsater" as well (GMpart# 25094266) thing is going to cost me 20$ thru GMPartsDirect.com. thats alot of bread. i might be able to re-use this one. however i don't want to get the fuel pump and not be able to intall it cause the "pulsater" broke when i pulled it out. thoughts?

You don't need it, and the new fuel pump will come with provisions to do without it. Just don't reuse the old one, whatever yu do. Either spend the bread on a new one, or stick the 3 inch hose in its place. There have been postings about this before, a search might net you some more info.

well,its too late, i allready made the order, i put up the bread to get the new one, i decided, "screw it, only the best for my ride"

"Pulsator" is not actually the correct term. "Pulsation Damper" is more correct.
It is a small mechanical accumulator that absorbs the presure pulsations of the pump output and releass the stored pressure charge between pump output pulses. Its design purpose was to provide a more even pump output to the regulator and quiet the fuel system. With a functioning regulator, the factory rubber fuel supply hose, and given the length of the fuel line set, it is really an unnecessary device, and a potntial point of failure.
EDIT: Yeah, I can spell. I just HATE this replacement keyboard. I'm about to snap it in half over my knee... Doesn't Mexico make a good, NON-tactile feel keyboard any more?

sounds like the piece i left out when i replaced my pump. looks sorta like a lil master cylinder and hooked up between the pump output line and the metal line on the other side. i put the supplied rubber hose in its place.

Yep, ship it back. If the o-rings ever wear out (like all o-rings do), you could get a leak that could cause a pressure drop. I didn't hear any extra noise out of mine after I put in the second pump (sigh) without using a pulsator at all. Sounded the same to me. Besides, our cars are supposed to be noisy 
On the other hand, if you don't tighten the clamps enough when you use the rubber hose, you could get a leak there, too.
But you're already doing the best move by not re-using the old one.
