92-97 LT1 starter. ANY of them. People often use the corvette version. I use a b-body starter from a wrecked wagon, still works great.

Yep. 10.5:1 is nothing these days. But there's static, and then there is dynamic compression. And if you have a high over-lap cam, your cranking compression is really low anyways, so you don't NEED a high torque starter.

The LT1 starter is nice because it fits any SBC, and since its smaller than OE 3rd gen's saves you some weight and space. Plus you can get rebuild kits, or replacements at any parts chain.

Re: High torque starter for built 350

I have a 168 tooth flywheel on my 11:1 383 with a small cam that cranks 225 psi. The factory 100K mile L31 vortec PMGR starter spins it over effortlessly even heat soaked at 16° timing. Van still has the OEM 25 year old 2ga battery cables, they were in great shape so I left them alone. When I had it on the stand I used cheap parts house universal 4ga cables and it still cranked over well.

LT1 starter, B of F are the same and will work perfect for you. That's factory LT1 compression, high compression race motor use the LT1 Corvette because the case is more compact and stronger, but thats motors 11.5:1+
