Do I want the pushrod fully seated in the U groove of the guideplate or pushed back touching the back of the hole on the head? Thanks There TF Heads with non aligning.

not sure i fully understand what you're asking, but i'd spin the engine by hand a few times around and check it whereever the push rod goes on it's own, and i don't think it's going to make any differance any way since you buy them in .100 incriments.
