Been thru 100 posts on Fuseable links. I've learned the D battery sized one on the positive battery cable isn't one. I've also learned that there should be one by the starter. I can't find any! Can anyone pinpoint their location?

 

You're probably looking right at them. They're just different colored wires with an inline connector, then the wire changes to the color it's supposed to be in the manual. They are literally just wires that burn up first as though they were a fuse.

 

In our third gens, the splice is the giveaway. It'll appear as a small cylinder between the link itself and the field wires.

can you pinpoint locations?

 

They will be connected to the big positive binding post on the starter. The same post that has the large gauge cable coming directly from the battery.

 

Remember that we're talking about vehicles that are pushing 40 years old. There could easily have been dozens of "wiremen" in before you and possibly hacked them out.
I've done similar with my own ride although the wire routing and method of fusing are not at all OEM.

 

possible but I have owned since 96 , hoping there just illusive

 

Total length is less than 6" with one end landed directly on that large starter stud.
My 86 had three IIRC correctly. Two for sure but it's been a while since I've had to deal with them.
