1986 350 carb to fuel injection advice

So have an 86 with a slightly modified 350 325 HP, w/Holley street avenger carb. What is the groups thoughts on adding fuel injection such as a Holley sniper system?

Re: 1986 350 carb to fuel injection advise

Does it run good now? If yes, then leave it as is. Save the money for something else to put into the car. If not, and everything else is freshened up, go for it.

Why do you want to change it? What are you looking for?

Re: 1986 350 carb to fuel injection advice

Upgrading from carb to sniper has been my favorite modification. Starts easier, runs better, idles smoother, gets better mpg and when my mornings are 40f and mid day is 90F I dont have swings in performance. It is not 100% self tuning you still need to tune the cold weather performance but it is not hard and warmed up self tuning is very easy and it does it for you.

Re: 1986 350 carb to fuel injection advice

Thanks for the reply fellas. I’m not worried about anything other than the fuel pump. Im assuming I need to drop the fuel tank? Will the fuel
pump drop right in To an 86 tank? Not sure if my fuel lines are adequate as I have a one that has been cut and vented due to removal of the charcoal canister. It’s a bit of a hack job.

Has anyone done this on an 86 that can offer some advice?

Re: 1986 350 carb to fuel injection advice

I recently put a walbro 255 in my 88 tank. Pretty easy. Fit right in the factory sending unit. Pulling the tank is the hardest part. There are a couple threads on here that can help.

I modified a factory TPI pickup for 6AN fittings and ran 3/8 supply and return with a walboro 255lph pump. I also cut the dreaded access hole and reinforced it with 13 nutserts and a 3/16 ring and cover
