No crank

Hello all, I decided to work on some of the mess of wiring in my camaro mainly dead wires from previous owner etc. New electrical tape new connectors etc. Unfortunately my battery drained when my electric fans went on from a wrong connection and thr battery couldn't crank. I tried jumping with small jumpit and didn't turn but heard clicks from I assume starter. Got a new battery and won't crank or make any noise other than fuel pump. This is a 350 swapped camaro sketchy wiring so hoping I can get some help will provide pictures too thank you! ( tested alternator and starter solenoid and getting 12 volts only losing about 8 ish when key is turned in on position)

Re: No crank

If voltage drops to 8V when the ignition is turned on, either the replacement battery is defective or there is a significant resistance in the switch and/or wiring. If the system voltage drops to 8V but the battery remains at 12V, assume the battery is still serviceable.

Re: No crank

Just removed starter since I didn't hear any click or crank and found my problem

Not sure if i caused the burnt connection jumping the battery/ positive wire to starter connected to battery but once the starter dropped this ignition wire fell completely off

Re: No crank

Better to find it now than 200 miles from home. In a rainstorm. Next to a field full of killer bees. On election day.

Glad you found it.
Like Sofa always says; "the simplest explanation that fits all the facts is most likely to be the right one", and like in this case, sometimes we get lucky and it's an easy fix...

Re: No crank

Update: slapped in a new starter fixed wiring with 10 gauge wires and still same problem. Since this car is the first year of the 3rd gen and has no vats I'm concerned on the wiring this car has ive seen some pics of bypassing neutral safety switch but mine is soldered with different wires. What should I look for next to diagnose what's going on.
