Smoke

My car lets out a puff of smoke when I cold start it. Is this ok? Is there something wrong? When the engine is warm and I start it it doesn't puff out smoke. It doesn't puff everytime I cold start it but does let out a puff every other day or so.

It is normally caused by a small leak in the valve seals. Nothing to worry about as long as you aren't losing a lot of oil.

The seals leak oil down the valve stem as the car sits overnight. This happens to all small block Chevy's as they get older. When the head heats up it expands and seals the leak.

Wait untill you have a reason to remove the heads and fix the seals then... a small leak won't hurt anything. Don't let some mechanic tell you you need a rebuilt head or engine or something.
