Car won’t crank

Car won’t crank

Hi, ive got a new problem

pontiac trans am 1988
350
I can turn on the ignition but not start the car,
whenever I try starting it I get a loud beep and than nothing(look at the video for better explanation)


my guess VATS or some aftermarket anti theft, anyone know where to start looking ?

At the beginning of the video, I can barely get a quick glimpse of the battery volt meter. Can't tell if it's on the low side. Check if the battery is putting out 12.x volts. If it is, check your battery connections are clean and tight. Weak battery is usually accompanied by dimming of the lights while cranking. Are you able to observe that with the door open and the courtesy lights on???

the battery went from 12.5 to 12.3 when turning the key. Also tried jump starting it, no success

but it started raining so I guess I’ll check the connections tomorrow.

Well now it starts, but only if the battery is at 13.4, is it the battery or the cable to the starter that are the problem

+ my fuel gauge stopped working
BUY 35 year old car the said, it will be fun
however it seemed like an easy fix
