Fuel sending unit

Curious if there is a way to “bench check” a fuel sending unit? Currently I have my tank dropped for refurb and seems like a good time to make sure it works. Not ripping all that stuff back out so is there a way to check it? I’m guessing if I plug it back in and move the float in theory the gas gauge should move? 305 carb engine…for now

Re: Fuel sending unit

Yes of course you can just hook it up to the car and check using the gauge. Works fine. Might have to use a clip lead or some such to ground its flange.
