Tech / General EngineIs your car making a strange sound or won't start? Thinking of adding power with a new combination? Need other technical information or engine specific advice? Don't see another board for your problem? Post it here!
I'm considering adding a liquid filled water temp gauge on the engine plumbed from the hole on top of the water pump that is normally plugged. The 3/8" brass tube rises up ~8" before dead ending on the gauge.
My concern is an air pocket will most like form when the engine is off so will the flow of water flush out the air pocket or will air get stuck up by the gauge resulting in incorrect readings?
I could look for a 3/8" slim design brass air relief valve to resolve but considering this may be going to far so just plug the hole and go without.
Opinions and any real life experience are welcomed

Why tho?? Do you not have a working gauge?? Or just use a temp gun
