Re: Restoration Garage '85 Camaro "upgrades"

Was watching restoration garage last night and a customer brought in a 85 Z28 with a carb 305 and a T5. He wanted some extra power so they put in a RV cam(?!), intake, and carb. They roll the car outside to break in the cam and the thing started over heating! LOL.
So they shut it down, look things over and try to start it again. Back fires through the carb and lights it on fire.
The timing ended up being way too retarded. Once they got that adjusted and fired it back up, it was still over heating. The fan clutch ended up being bad and while they were figuring that out one of the plastic sides to radiator let go and sprayed coolant all over the place. It was funny b/c it reminded me of "when we were young"/back in the day. Not that I had that case occur but it was familiar, in a way.

When they were trouble shooting all this they mentioned the car was sitting for a while before it was brought in. I'd say the lesson it before doing any kind of mods to a car make sure it is running ok first.
