Speedometer issue
I have a duel needle that goes crazy and maxes out even at 30, it won’t go back to normal till I stop…could this be a cable or issues with the speedo gears in the cluster?

Re: Speedometer issue
"Dual needle" doesn't matter in the slightest.
Greasing the cable is absolutely a good place to start.
Does the car have cruise? If so, the module (regulator) may be fornicated, and need replacement.

Re: Speedometer issue
Then lubing the cable is the best thing you can do right now. No guarantees, but, start there.

Re: Speedometer issue
Some early cars (double needle speedo) used a 2-price speedo cable, and the early cars (82-83 I think) used a cruise module the speedo cable plugs into. These are obviously more complex to diagnose than later 1-price style speedo cables. (84/5+ speedo cables)
i’d start at the tranny end; It’s very possible that the speedometer gears inside the tranny have worn. ( usually the one on the tranny tail shaft) It’s quick and pretty easy to pull the speed sensor out to inspect both the plastic gears. While it’s apart you can spin the cable with your fingers to feel for any ‘binding’.
if you have to replace the cable,…. Get a 1-price !
