tpi conversion to tbi
i have my 88 firebird formula 350 im in the process of doing a ton of different things to and the current project im in the middle of is redoing the upper engine. cam, heads, intake, and exahust, my questions are about weather i should use vortec heads or afr aluminum. and is there an option for an intake to switch it to TBI im thinking a sniper system.
we dont have emissions here and im going to track the car. the harness in the car at the moment is trash and the tpi intake is in real bad shape. previous owner was a tweeker so im thinking a complete tbi kit i just dont know enough about the 88 l98 block and or what i should do for heads. it currently has cast heads on it.

Re: tpi conversion to tbi
The stand alone EFI systems are far superior to the old stuff. I have had 2 Edelbrock pro flow systems and they've been great. They're perfect for cars where you wanna ditch the old EFI. I have had 2 systems in my 82. The most current is a pro flow xt. The sniper systems are supposedly really good also. They all have their ups and downs as far as tuning but it's all around pretty easy to fine tune them. A better set of heads would also be the move. You'll likely need a fuel pump swap also but I may be wrong on that, I'm not sure on the specs on the TPI pressure/volume.
The standalone systems all will require a bit of wiring. Things like fans/fuel pumps will be tied into the new ecm. It's all pretty easy, just a little time consuming. If you have an electric speedo, I believe they go through the ecm prior to the gauge. I like the pro flow xt setups but tue cool thin about the throttle body setups it the versatility of using it on different intakes/engines.
im sure there are plenty of people who can point you in the right direction as far as heads/cam.
That said, used fast burn heads and am really happy w them.

Re: tpi conversion to tbi
I feel like the fuel pump should be fine the one I just installed is rated to 90 psi lol. Yea the issue I'm running into is a solid part number for an intake that will bolt directly onto the l98 block and heads. Or a solid idea on some vortec heads and a tbi manifold that will bolt on with out having to drill the mounting bolt holes out lol. I watched a video of a guy slapping a ls intake on a 350 sbc and now I'm reeling at all the possibilities haha.
as for the work I've pretty much got the had stuff done it's in prices in the garage so not worried about labor ha. Just use ability after install haha.
Ty for the information btw
