1986 IROC Power Steering Pump and Gear Box fittings

Longtime lurker but this is my first post for assistance. I’m in the process of getting my Camaro on the road and I’ve hit a road block.

I’m replacing the power steering pump, power steering pressure line, return line and power steering cooling line on my 1986 305 IROC (carb with AC) .

The new power steering pressure line / fitting connects to the new power steering pump however, the fittings from the other end of the power steering pressure line and the power steering cooling line don’t fit in steering box fittings.

I picked up fitting ‘adopters’ from Amazon but they didn’t work / fit. Any suggestions / recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Michael

Is the problem with the thread pitch, or with the fitting and tube depth?

Thanka Vader for your quick reply. I’m assuming it’s the threads on the fitting as the fitting and tube length on the original tube / hose look very similar to the replacements.

If you haven't done it already, one option is to acquire (a.k.a., dig through your stash) some bare flare nut and tube fittings, and try to thread some of those in by hand to select the proper thread. That would become your gauge.
