Tranny and Camshaft RPM problems.

The problem I'm having with my 85 TPI TA seems like one of those problems that's been asked hundreds of times on this website but with mine, I haven't found any solutions. While swapting to a manual I went through the old 305 and cleaned it up. One of the biggest changes was a camshaft with 107 degrees of intake centerline. I have a chip from harristuning.com that addresses this along with an emissions delete. But after months of effort, I haven't got it running smoothly. The motor has this bad habit of idling like trash, when cold the rpm will surge to 3k over and over again. In addition to this when stopping at a red light for example the motor will just idle at 2k until you start driving again or just let it work itself down for 10 minutes.

let me go over what I've tried. I've smoke-tested the motor and it is good. The IAC and TPS have been set properly. It almost acts like the IAC is just opening over and over but I've tested it with multiple new ones along with pulling its plug when it jumps and that doesn't help any. The injectors are new along with the ignition system. timing is correct and no misfires. I just now got a new ESC module but still no dice. I am being dead-*** when I say every sensor in this motor is new or has been tested.

I've tried emailing the chip maker but he doesn't believe it's the chips fault. So at this point, I am so clueless about what my one-of-a-kind problem might be. This is a great forum and the people on it are even better so any help would be appreciated.

I currently do not own a scan tool. Is there one you would recommend for this?

Snap on mt2500 or use aldl cables 12 pin cable with winaldl. Not sure how this was tuned without ecm data.

Re: Tranny and Camshaft RPM problems.

Thank you. I have the aldl cables on the way hopefully they arrive soon and I can get back to you.

If you're referring to how the chip was tuned I just mailed it out with my car's spects and what I needed done.

Winaldl you will be able to see fuel trims as long as he didn’t lock min max numbers to appear like it’s running well.
