Latest TPI BS problem. Why's the motor die everytime the car coasts?

First, I've monkeyed with everything on this tpi 305 trying to get it to idle/run smoothly and now I've come up with a brand new problem.

If I coast the car in gear for more than a few seconds (like when approaching a red light or stop sign), the rpm goes to 0 when i push in the clutch. It does it every time. What gives?

BTW when I tried to close the IAC to set idle, by jumping A & B etc. The car started and idled about 2500 rpm. Tried it twice, same both times.

Would my IAC completely close while coasting?

I've got the butterflies completely closed on the TB and it still idles about 1200 sitting in the garage with the IAC plugged in.

I'm going a little nuts on this thing. It's always something with the idle on this car; too fast, too rough, not at all, or any combination.

Tried the IAC again. This time the engine ticked over nice and slow with the IAC closed and disconnected.

When I plugged the IAC back in the idle went up a bunch to about 1300 (though I dont trust the factory tach) and the car started running really rich. I've got my fuel pressure turned up to about 45lbs.

Does this sound right or wrong or what's up?

Turned my fuel pressure down to about 42lbs. Now you can breathe in the garage with the motor idling, but rev it up a couple of times and eyes started watering again.

Whys this thing running so rich?

How do I ohm out my injectors? What will it tell me?

For a long time I ran with the IAC disconnected and it never seemed rich, and I got great mileage. I just don't understand what's going on.

Somebody HELP!

Sticking EGR Maybe? Sounds similar to an EGR problem I had with my TBI car.

The EGR is the one thing that I have not replaced. I'll pick one up and replace it this weekend, and pray it helps. Actually I thinking I'm getting the whole thing under control.

Ohmed my injectors last night. One was 9.1, a couple were 10.0-10.1, and all the rest were 15-18. I guess I can be sure that at least one is leaking, especially when I turn my pressure up to 47lbs.

The 15-18 is normal, but the ones that are 9 or 10 are not. You are going to need to replace your injectors.

who sells new 22# injectors? should have got the 19# yellow ford injectors off ebay, they are a little over $100 bucks i think. and they are a direct replacement, no prom tuning needed.

Re: Latest TPI BS problem. Why's the motor die everytime the car coasts?

I've made a lot of progress on the problem. Problem was, I think, on long coasts the IAC would shut completely, and I had my absolute idle set too low. I'd been dealing with a vacuum leak for a long time which is why my ab idle was set so low. Now it doesn't die, but idles a bit rough and fast. I've got a couple of bad injectors, so I'm just driving it until I get new ones in. Then I'll try to get it sorted out right. Then I'll cam it.
