1986 TA oil pressure gauge jumping

Hi, oil pressure gauge jumps to 60 holds for a second or two, then drops to 35. Engine is 305 carbed. Could it be sensor? Engine idles about 900. I’d so Is it above the oil filter or behind distributor? Thanks for help.

Re: 1986 TA oil pressure gauge jumping

Sounds more like a bad connection where the wire plugs onto the sending unit.

There's no [mr_spock]sen-sore[/mr_spock] for that; only a gauge sending unit.

900 RPM is WWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY high for idle. Sounds like, if you're quoting the number off of the wavy-pointer "sporty" trim package thingy in the dash, that THAT has gone bad, like everybody else's, in the way they ALWAYS go bad. Which is, they read WWWWAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY high.
