What's your opinion of billet aluminum V-belt pulleys?
I've read online posts where people liked them because they run truer than OEM steel pulleys, but I've also read that they wear out unless they are hard anodized, unlike steel pulleys that never seem to wear out. The only aftermarket aluminum pulleys I've found online that say they are hard anodized are cast aluminum pulleys, not billet aluminum. There's lots of no name billet aluminum pulley sets (crank and WP) you can buy online for less than $100, then there are BBK underdrive pulleys that are extremely high priced, apparently catering to the crowd that has more money than what they know what to do with.. I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars just for a set of engine pulleys.
Please no comments about converting to a serpentine belt system because I'm not interested in that program.

the stock steelies are stamped, so id bet theyre not true either.
but anything that is chucked up on a lathe should be pretty darn straight
unless whomever chucked it didnt get it centered.
Check out https://www.allamericanbillet.com/ here in phoenix. I know the owner and have watched them grow over the last 20 years or so.
Even give them a call if there is something you dont see and want to ask a questions. Shane is the owner, and he will gladly take 10 minutes to help out. He's one of us..

Re: What's your opinion of billet aluminum V-belt pulleys?
The problem I have with the stock steel pulleys isn't with the pulleys per se, but the fact that all the reproduction ones must be for A/C cars because the crank pulley is always an inch or so larger in diameter than the water pump pulley which spins the water pump faster than it needs to be spinning for the cooling needs of a non-A/C engine. This wears out the WP that much faster and probably robs the engine of a little power. You have to look high and low for used factory pulleys that are the right diameter and depth, which is tedious and time consuming.
