cam bolt lock plate L98

anyone know a confirmed source of a cam bolt lock plate for an L98 or similar Chevy with factory roller cam? have run through the usual speed parts marketers and 10 manufacturer websites, lots of listings for Gen 1 SBC that erroneously include the roller cam models by mistake, the factory roller cams use a smaller bolt circle to attach the gear. think some LS are 3 bolt too, is it the same circle?

You can still buy both version from GM. There are two different bolt circles.

Re: cam bolt lock plate L98

The holes in most of those fold-over plates appear to be so sloppy that fitment might not matter. A frightening aspect is that unless the stamped plate is heat treated, some of that material might flatten, roll, or fatigue. At least the chain would help hold it on for a few revs, maybe.

If you are not a believer in anaerobic thread sealants and adhesives (LocTite), another option would be three sets (and a spare) for a Jackson (not affiliated, and you might do better elsewhere):

thanks I've already decided on the safety wire solution after getting the cam degreed in, habits I picked up on helicopters. Cheers.

Oops I was thinking of the step nose cam retention plate that bolts into the block. I have never had an issue or even seen one with properly torqued using blue loctite as the FSM states cam bolts backing out. I have been into ~500+K mile Vortec 350s that still have the cam bolts securely in place. To me doing more than that is just a wasted effort $ and time wise. GMPP, Cloyes 9-3157 or Edelbrock 7801 single roller chain setup, loctited bolts torqued properly and good for the life of the engine.
